On February 19, the Wrestling District IX Championships, a Baltimore city-wide tournament, were held at the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. Participating schools included Poly, Digital Harbor, Forest Park, Frederick Douglass, Dunbar, ACCE, and more.

Poly Places 2nd in Baltimore City Wrestling Championship

On February 19, the Wrestling District IX Championships, a Baltimore city-wide tournament, were held at the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. Participating schools included Poly, Digital Harbor, Forest Park, Frederick Douglass, Dunbar, ACCE, and more. 

In the 108 weight class, Poly freshman Miles Molina placed first and scored 22 team points. Molina also won outstanding wrestler for his weight class as voted by the coaches. In the 115 weight class, Terrell Jefferson placed 4th and scored 11 team points. In the 122 weight class, Nathaniel Jacobs placed 3rd and scored 16 team points. In the 134 weight class, Jaden White placed first and scored 23 team points. In the 140 weight class, Chonan Bell placed 4th and scored 9 team points. In the 146 weight class, Derrel Davis placed first and scored 22 team points.In the 152 weight class, junior Adam Grace placed 4th and scored 10 team points. In the 159 weight class, freshman Kimathi Nash placed 4th and scored 10 team points. In the 167 weight class, Ayden Paulay placed 1st and scored 21.5 team points. In the 177 weight class, Collier Grace placed 3rd and scored 14 team points. In the 192 weight class, Major Ogletree placed 4th and scored 8 team points.

All in all, Poly placed second in the city, just after Digital Harbor and ahead of ACCE. Congratulations Poly students and coaches!

UPDATE: As of February 24th, Miles Molina (108 weight class), Derrel Davis (146 weight class), and Ayden Paulay (167 weight class) have qualified for the State competition which will be on March 1st & 2nd.
