Junior Ring Ceremony

Introduction:

The Junior Ring ceremony is a pivotal event in every Poly Student’s time at our beautiful institution. It commemorates the transition from underclassmen to upperclassmen, as this year’s Class of 2025 begins to focus on the next level of their education. Junior students marched down the aisle in amazing outfits of their class colors, blue and black, enhancing the celebratory atmosphere with style.  This ceremony represents the achievements that they have cultivated during their formative years, symbolizing not only academic accomplishments but also the growth, camaraderie, and lasting memories forged in the crucible of shared experiences. As Salloni Gill beautifully put it, “Today be proud of your achievements, and their atestment to your resilience, commitment, and the pursuit of excellence.” Embracing the symbolism of their class rings, the Class of 2025 is poised to carry forward the torch of excellence into the future. The symbolism of the rings is also very significant to the tradition, the saying goes that you must keep the ring pointed inward, towards oneself, to signify self-focus and personal development during the academic journey. Until you graduate which is when you turn the ring to face outward, representing readiness to face the world and showcase one’s capabilities. 

Summary:

Although there were a couple minor incidents that kept the ceremony from being perfect, it was a unique and special event that every student and parent in the BPI community got the great opportunity to witness.

The event began with the welcome address by the class officers and the assistant principal, who captivated the audience with their excellent speeches filled with words of wisdom and inspiration. Following the welcome addresses, the atmosphere was charged with patriotism as the JROTC Color Guard led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a stirring rendition of the National Anthem performed by the BPI Concert Band. This was followed by some more riveting speeches by the 2025 class officers. 

From soulful piano melodies played by Gaverial Josiah Amper and inspiring singing of the song “A Million Dreams” to vibrant dance routines by synergy and the African Dance Group, Protecting Our Heritage (POCH), thought-provoking poetry by Ta’niya Sigler and Marvelous Akinwumiju, and skillful guitar solos by Qamryn Askew, the stage came alive with the exceptional abilities of the students at The Polytechnic Institute.. Each performance showcasing the unique talent held in every student at The Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. There is always something special about these performances, whether it be the goosebumps from an amazing music number. Or the special performances carefully orchestrated and practiced for the students bodies eyes, these special ceremonies at Poly are like no other and will continue to remain in everyone’s minds even after the Class of 2025 has graduated.

Closing the ceremony, guest speakers and our principal imparted their final thoughts, leaving the audience inspired and reflective. As the last echoes of applause lingered in the air, the ring ceremony drew to a close, marking not only a celebration of achievements but also a shared moment of appreciation for the unique and remarkable talents that define the spirit of The Baltimore Polytechnic Institute.
